Greening Up Our Act E-mail

Eddie's Energy Bars has been trying to go green for a couple months now.  We have finally figured out how to keep the grass greener and the skies clearer and bright blue.  Here is what we're doing to green up our act, and what you can do to help us:

Green Printing Materials
ImageWe are currently making the switch to recycled paper.  There are many people that print off unnecessary amounts of paper.  At Eddie’s, we print off what we need.  On top of that, it's recycled, which is way cool.

Recyclable Bags
ImageWe ship bars to you in a reusable plastic bag.  While your bars are in it, the bag keeps them fresh.  When your bars are all gone (which is a really short period of time) it can be used again and again.  Cool, huh? Bottom line: don’t throw it away.

Our Cardboard Boxes
Image Depending on which shipping method you choose, our boxes can always be recycled.  Whenever we can, we'll use a box that we have around the bakery to ship your bars. Isn't that awesome?

Polypropylene Packaging for Bars
ImageWhen we look for new packaging, it usually takes a while.  We finally settled on polypropylene (cello) bags.  What’s cool about these is that the bags are lightweight, but still maintain a durable barrier to keep your energy bars fresh.  It can’t be recycled yet, though.  For now, this is the best we can do.

Our Delivery Vehicle aka “The Pilot”
ImageAlthough our delivery vehicle isn’t exactly the most energy efficient, we have compensated by making less trips.  Our retailers have taken on more inventory in their freezers so we can deliver less, and get a little more carbon-dioxide out the air. We also source local ingredients that are close to the bakery.
