Love is in the Air at Eddie's Energy!

Dear [NAME],
I hope you are enjoying as great a start to 2008 as we are at Eddie's.  January put us in full swing, and bars have been flying out the door of our home bakery.  Baking a lot of bars means cutting off lots of edges.  No, I don't mean sharp or competitive edges.  I mean edges from our bars.  Read below to find out more!

Still need a gift for your loved one for Valentine's Day (February 14th)? Our energy bars are a great idea!  Order before Monday, February 11th to make sure your lovin' energy will be delivered!  We'll include a note with your special words, too!

February 23rd is a big day for me.  It's my birthday.  The big 20.  I know that sounds young to most of you, but 20 feels way too old for me!  I share this birthday with my awesome twin sister, Kelsey, and two friends from Bryant.  Since I am celebrating, I think you should celebrate, too!  Enter the coupon code birthday and get 10% off your order! (Coupon expires February 29th, 2008.)

We have a lot of plans for the month of February. After all, the Groundhog did see his shadow, which means more winter is on the way. Read about what's going on below in our newsletter.  Dinneen is back too, with another motivating article to get you off the couch and exercising.

Happy Valentine's Day!

EEB to Offer Eddie's Edges for Sale Online

Our freezer is getting way too full, as we continue to bake more and more bars each month. When we bake our bars, we cut off the edges to form twenty-eight uniform bars per batch.  We have stock piled these edges in what we call our "cow freezer", a freezer decorated in cow spots.  We are thinking about selling our edges online to our customers, since people who have tried them sometimes like them as much as the bars themselves (especially the people who like the ends of bread loaves!)  Let us know if you would like the opportunity to  buy Eddie's Edges in every flavor we make.

Local Band Launches "Rusty's Energy Bars" to Benefit Henriette's Relief Project

Woods Tea Company , a folk band based in St. Albans, Vermont, has started selling Rusty's Energy Bars to benefit a charity that former band-mate, Rusty Jacobs, loved.  Through the Eddie's Energy Custom Label Program, WTC created Rusty's Energy Bars.  With the help of our design team, they created a fantastic label with a picture of Rusty on the front.  The band is selling the bars while on tour throughout the year.  If you are a huge WTC fan, or would like to look at their schedule, please visit their website .

"7 Easy Ways to Make Exercise a Habit"
by Dinneen Diette, www.Coach2Wellness.com

This time of year many of us have made resolutions to make positive changes in our lives, only to find by the time February rolls around we have either given up or not really followed through.  Hopefully, you’ve already read Michael Adams’ (Eddie’s Founder) tips in his blog on keeping your New Year’s Resolution. His advice is great.

I thought it would be a good idea to expand on a favorite resolution for many people, and that is to exercise.  The only way to really make it work is to make it a HABIT.  Here are some tips to show you how:

The Power of a Smaller Plate

As many of you may know, I spent two weeks in China in the beginning of January.  While eating at many restaurants there, I noticed how small the plates were.  I always left feeling, not stuffed, but satisfied.  The small plate allowed me to take less, and therefore, to eat less.

If you feel like you could benefit from reading more about plate and portion size, as well as colors and mental ques, I reccomend that you read a book called "Mindless Eating" by Brian Wansink, a Cornell University food scientist.

And next time when you are in your favorite restaurant, or at home eating at your kitchen table, use a smaller plate and see if you notice a difference in your eating habits!
